ABOUT OUR TRACK

The Haydon Hunt are fortunate enough to stage their point 2 point at  Hexham Racecourse, along with the Border Hunt, where a point 2 point track runs around the inside of the national hunt racing track. The course is left handed, undulating and provides runners with a steep climb, not as steep as the national hunt course, into the home straight.

Due to the tracks fabulous location, spectators are able to take full advantage of the racecourse facilities, with excellent viewing guaranteed. The racecourse bars offer glass fronted rooms so on bad weather days, viewing is still maximised. Full picturesque scenery can be seen of Hexhamshire, ideal for a day out with friends, punters, owners and trainers and parties.

What is Point to Pointing?

Point to point is a form of amateur horse racing over jumps. The events are organised by volunteers from the local hunt, all of which give up a huge amount of time to allow the event to take place. The Haydon P2P committee would like to thank each and every one of their members who give up time before, during and after the event to help the day run smoothly.

Point 2 point races are for horses who have qualified with a recognised hunt by attending a certain number of occasions and for jockeys of amateur status. Races are run over 3 miles and 19 fences will be jumped. Sometimes they can be ran over a shorter distance, 2 miles 4 furlongs where 14 fences will be jumped.
